Fall Colors

I'm starting to get anxious to go home for the holidays.
My friend told me that her friend at some school up north has finals right now and then they are on vacation from Thanksgiving all the way until the new year!
That's crazy! And I wish that was me!
We get five days off for Thanksgiving and then we have school for two weeks and thennnn it's Christmas break for a month, but really only three weeks because we have sorority recruitment!!!

The end of the semester goes really really fast!
The holidays are almost here and I can't believe it!
We are signing Christmas music in chorus and we are getting ready for Lovefeast which is the first weekend in December. There are workmen hanging lights on the trees on the quad and it is starting to feel like winter!

I'm so anxious to finish all my homework so I can enjoy my short time at home over Thanksgiving!
But at the same time, it's really hard to do all my work because I'm really starting to check out! Oops!

I am so excited! It is one of the best campus traditions we have!
You can read about my first Pitsgiving from last year HERE!

The temperatures in North Carolina continue to drop and the leaves continue to fall!
I think I found the prettiest tree on campus right in front of Campus Grounds, our student run coffee shop here on campus!
I love the bright color of my sweater and the leaves!!!
I think these pictures came out so pretty!!
Also, lol but I thought this sweater was red not a reddish-orange color... So heads up when you order this sweater!
Orange is not my favorite color and I think it is a quite hard color for most people to wear.
But I got a lot of compliments yesterday on this sweater and I was told that I can really pull this color off!
So thanks guys!! :)

I loved that I wore cheetah printed flats with this orange sweater. You know that I love cheetah print because, guess what- it's a neutral!!
I think cheetah print really complements the orange/red/whatever you want to call it, sweater really nicely!!

I Can't Get Enough

I have a new addition to my RUFFLE collection!!
I am in love with this gray t-shirt dress from Zaful! I love this dress, it is actually pretty warm and super comfortable! Zaful is so great because they have the most adorable styles for really good prices!
Zaful is great for trying out new trends and styles without killing your bank account! This dress was under $20 and it will look great in the fall and spring!
P.S. Zaful is having a HUGE SALE right now!
So go check it out!!

I now have three items all with the same ruffle sleeves!
I have the shirt that started it all from H&M! (Read that blog post HERE.) I am so glad I bought that shirt last spring.
And then I have my sweater from Francesca's! (Read that blog post HERE). I am obsessed with it and I am definitely doing to bring it home over Thanksgiving break!
P.S. I go home in a week from today! I can't wait!

Do you know how everyone has their signature item or look in their wardrobe? Like for my mom it is silk scarves and for my friend Grace it is anything with tassels. Maybe ruffles is my thing!?
I just can't get enough of them!

Fall WOO!!

Welcome back friends! (I should also welcome myself back...)
I was just telling Ashley, my photographer friend, from My Well Dressed Life, yesterday that I don't remember the last time I did a blog post... That's embarrassing and sad.
We both have been super busy lately.
And as pretty as the season is right now, the weather hasn't been so nice; lots of rain and clouds... :(
So that's one of my excuses for being MIA... and now onto a life update from yours truly!

It is finally looking like fall down here in North Carolina, all the leaves are almost all off the trees. The colors are so vibrant.
I am obsessed with the season right now but, sadly it reminds me how pretty home is right now. Fall in New York is stunning and I miss seeing it.
I haven't been home in months and I feel really disconnected from family and friends from back home. I feel so out of the loop. Last year I was still getting all the dirt and drama of home, but this year I'm not and I feel a little left out, not going to lie.

But I'm living in a different bubble. Sophomore year is much different than freshman year.
It is going by quicker and it is much busier.
Sophomore year is definitely harder in different ways than freshman year.
I am in the "swing of things" so I'm not really adjusting to classes or work load, but rather I am adjusting to changes in friends and other social parts of my life. I talk more about feeling sad and not very social in my post Sophomore Slumps! Go read it!!
Update: I am definitely getting out of the slumps! This week, I made plans everyday for dinner and lunch with friends that are very very sweet! And I am putting myself back out there and meeting lots of new people! I even went to a fraternity date function on Saturday night and met a lot of nice people!

It's getting into the holiday spirit down here; Christmas decorations are going up at shopping centers around Wake and we have started practicing Christmas music in Chorus!!
It's hard being away from family and friends at this time of year.
I'm really ready to go home.
I'm not home sick but I'm just ready to see all my siblings and the rest of the family.
And my house!!
My parents are redoing the kitchen and both the upstairs bathrooms and all I've seen is the updates through FaceTime!

I am excited to go home but first I have a lot to do down here in North Carolina!!

More fall outfits! WOO!!
I wore this skirt for Thanksgiving last year and to class, only once...
Read those blog posts HERE and HERE!

I'm not really a big skirt person, so I don't really wear skirts that often.
They aren't as flattering as dresses and they RIDE UP LIKE CRAZYYYY!!! (Especially with a backpack on.... OMG)
But this one I think is super cute and pretty easy to style with simple accessories!

Weak to the Elements

We had a beautiful parents weekend with warm weather, sunshine and a big W against Louisville, and then all of a sudden yesterday it decided to go down to freezing...
It went straight from summer to winter really fast.
I busted out a sweater, over the knee boots and my parka.

I ran into a friend in the library, after I already changed into my Uggs, Patagonia sweatshirt and North Face parka after dinner and he was like what are you wearing, you’re from Long Island, it’s not that cold.
My answer to him was that the south has made me weak to the elements.
And it really has.
I have no idea how I am ever going to live in the north again.

Let's just talk about this sweater for a hot sec.
It's adorable and I'm obsessed.
As you may know, I love big ruffle sleeves!
Click HERE to see my favorite shirt from last spring, that is obviously still in style!!
I have to say my arms did look a bit obese with all the tiers and then the big parka over them.
But it's okay!
I love this sweater!
This is the first thing I've ever bought from Francesca's and it won't be the last, because I am in love!
I bought this sweater in Charleston, when Emily, Caroline and I had our full day of shopping down King's Street.
I can't wait to buy more cute things from Francesca's!

My over the knee boots were brought out in full force yesterday!
I got these boots last year around this time from DSW because I wanted to try out the over the knee boot trend.
They are not the best quality, but it's fine, because I am still trying out the trend.
Surprisingly, they are actually pretty warm and super comfortable.
The biggest issue is that when I wear my black J Crew Gigi pants, they always fall down when I walk.
I think I have finally cracked the code on how to make them not fall down!
The key is to wear knee or mid calf socks under the boots over your pants, for some extra "grit" or friction, so the boots are less likely to slide down.
Also, if you wear the boots with jeans, the jeans also give a bit more friction and grit than slippery knit pants.
So just some pointers!
I don't know if I will ever buy a really nice pair of over the knee boots.
I don't really think it's my style.
But I'm gonna keep trying them out!

Project Pumpkin 2017

This year I didn't fully commit a whole day to Project Pumpkin like last year. I would have liked to but last year I did that and I remember having the craziest and most stressful day. I decided to not do that to myself again.
Instead of walking the children around to all the tables, I opted to stay at the KD table and help little children decorate cookies!
For those of you who don’t know, Project Pumpkin is a campus wide event where every organization and department set up a table on the upper quad and kids from all over the county come and trick or treat in a safe and fun environment!
This campus tradition was started because Wake students realized that the surrounding areas aren’t so safe for little kids to go trick-or-treating. And what a better place to bring them, then to the bubble of Wake Forest!
It was so fun and so cute! And I was able to do a half hour shift and then leave and then come back without any big responsibilities.
I wish I could've stayed longer but I had my chorus concert last night so I had to get ready.
I think it's really annoying that there are other events that go on the same day or night of a big campus wide event.
It's a real shame because we can't all focus on the most important event, the event where we raise money or the most awareness and the WHOLE school and community gets involved, and instead we have to balance it with events that don't necessarily impact the whole community.
Not that I'm saying that our chorus concert isn't important, because it is and I love performing but I think project pumpkin trumps chorus concert.

But all in all, both were a success!
For PP I wore my pink tutu over my clothes. It was a very Elisabeth outfit! It was great! I thoroughly enjoyed dressing like a 5 year old!
And then I changed into my gorgeous new choral gown that I bought over the summer with my mom.
My chorus prof said nothing too tight or revealing.... so my dress is tight but it is super super elegant and glamorous and I can't wait to wear this dress everyday over spring break when the chorus and I are singing in SPAIN!!!!
I'm so excited!!!
2018 is a big year of travel for me!
Get ready for some amazing travel diaries!!

Onto my class outfit:
I've had this shirt since early high school, and I think it is time to let it go.
It's not that it doesn't fit me anymore or that I don't like it anymore, it's just that I've had it for too long and it's time.
I guess it's a blessing that I'm not growing anymore (height wise, and I hope to stay waist wise the same) and my mom doesn't have to buy me a whole new wardrobe every season, but at the same time, because I am not growing, I accumulate too many clothes!
Once I get home for Christmas break I will be breaking out my Poshmark account again and start selling some of the beautiful clothes that I don't really wear anymore or that are too big for me!

Sophomore Slumps

Hi friends!

Sorry, that I've been a little MIA here on the blog recently!
I definitely haven't been MIA in real life though!
I have had the craziest and busiest couple of weeks!

Let me get you all caught up!
Ashley and I haven't been able to take a lot of photos because we have been so busy!
The weather also hasn't been that great, so it's hard to take pictures when it's wet and windy.

This past weekend, we had KD sisterhood, where we went to a pumpkin patch 45 min away and took cute pictures!
No one has sent me any of those photos....
Very annoyed about that.

After sisterhood, I helped host one of our KD date functions!
It was "my tie" themed and I got to bring Emily and Caroline because I didn't have a blind date.
But I had so much fun with them, until three girls threw up on the buses that I was in charge of!
That's always fun!

Monday night was the Breast Cancer Fashion show where all the sororities participated in and helped to raise money for Susan G. Koman in support of breast cancer! We raised $3,000!!!
It was so much fun and I want to be the model from KD senior year strutting down the runway! Just putting that out there now!

This weekend is family weekend and I am so excited to see my parents!
I made lots of good dinner reservations and I can't wait to let them spoil me all weekend!
We also have a football game on Saturday and I am going to make them come to the tailgate with me!!

So now that you're all caught up, let's talk about the sophomore slumps.
I had no idea what the sophomore slumps were until I was venting to Giorgia and she told me that I have a case of them.
She described them as "when you have no motivation to do anything but you also have a lot of work and there's a lot of things you’re responsible for but you’re like dying."
Nicely put George!
I couldn't agree more!

My life is so busy.
I am training to be a tour guide, I'm the KD date function chair and on the Girl Scout Committee. I am in WFU Style. I volunteer for Wake Speaks. I am also in ballroom dance club!
I am pretty involved on campus.
And on top of all of those activities, I still have to balance doing homework and hanging out with friends.

When I was talking to Giorgia, I confessed that I wasn't very happy.
A lot of girls in my sorority have their set friend groups and some aren't very inclusive.
I felt a bit left out last week and this weekend at pumpkin picking.
I also felt like everyone hated me.

But I realized that honestly, it's just one girl who is rubbing me the wrong way for no reason.
She is acting kind of like a girl I used to know in high school who ended up being a bully...

I keep telling myself, that I only have three more years of college and if I'm not happy about something, to change it!
So that's what I'm doing!
I am making a conscious effort to see friends in my sorority that want to hang out with me and who want to put effort into our friendship and not the mean girl.
I am also making an effort to hang out with girls in my sorority that I don't really know that well! I love being surrounded by great people and I want to have more wonderful people around me!
I am trying not to "put all my eggs in one basket," as I was told by a social worker at my elementary school years ago.
I am continuing to live by that rule.

I feel like I am back in freshman year where I was having a hard time balancing friends, life and school. It's happening all over again.
Wake Forest is trying to kick me in the butt.
Now that I'm a sophomore, classes are a bit challenging.
One part of me is saying "friends, friends, friends," and "C's get degrees..." but the other part of my body is telling me, "to get into a good law school you have to have a really good GPA..."
Ya see my dilemma?

I'm trying to figure it out.
It's not easy.
But I'm getting through it like I always do!
And you can too!
Have a great rest of your week!!
