14 Years Later...

Today I had lunch with two girls I have known since kindergarten.
We have grown apart over the years with silly little girl drama and then middle school and high school drama.
But we ended things on a high note last year before we graduated. We even took a picture and bragged about knowing each other our whole lives on Instagram.

Click HERE to see more photos from last year's lunch on the lawn.

It was really nice to just catch up and chat about life in college and how different it is from our small little home town.

I sported my new adorable shirt today!
It's a J Crew collectors tee.
I love how it is a classic stripped tee but it is has a floral design going down the sides of the shirt.
I think it's really pretty! And look how pretty the pink flowers are behind me!
I love pink in all aspects of my life obviously; pink flowers, pink bag, pink Hermès bracelet, pink underwear!? Maybe....
I am very excited to pair this shirt with my hot pink J Crew shorts, or my blue J Crew tassel earrings, or some new J Crew gold dangly earrings I recently bought.

Shoes: Tory Burch nude Sedgwick ballet flats
Bag: Tory Burch light pink tote bag (stole from my mom) (similar)
Watch: Michael Kors gold Blair watch

The Nina Variations

Who needs daylight when you have big bright lights in NYC?
I know these photos from Friday night aren't the best, but I just had to show you guys this outfit!

I think it is very sophisticated and very on trend.
I think this outfit is kind of the perfect example of me growing up.
I know that sounds silly, but I have always said, what you wear says a lot about you.
And I think this outfit says that I am young, confident and mature.
I would never ever have the guts to wear this outfit when I was in high school.
But now that I am done with my first year of college, I no longer care about what people think of what I wear, and I am the most confident I have ever been in my entire life.
And I hope you guys can see that just through my photos.

I didn't get a chance to take photos earlier in the day because my mom and I were running late to the theater.
I took the train in and met my mom at FIT, The Fashion Institute of Technology, her alma mater, on 7th avenue, and then we went to dinner and rushed off to the theater.
I walked from Penn Station to meet my mom and I got a lot of looks from a lot of men and women.
I couldn't tell if they were all admiring or maybe envying my "smart little scarf" or maybe just my outfit in general.
No cat calls this time.
Probably because I was walking quickly, keeping my eyes in front of me, "Long Island stink face" on, and goal in mind.

After dinner, we went to a little black box theater, off 7th street to see my cousin, Jasmine and her boyfriend perform in the Nina Variations.
It is a show about Chekhov's The Seagull and all the various endings that could have happened.
My cousin and her boyfriend were amazing! And I'm not just saying that because she is my cousin, but because she is so talented. You could really feel her emotions and that everything she was saying was coming from the heart. As my high school theater teacher would say, it was "honest" acting.
I could feel her aces and pains.
I've learned, that to be a good actor, you don't act at all.
Rather, you take all the emotions and words of the character and make them your own through your own life experiences.
Whenever I did a monologue, it was so hard for me to be "honest." Being "honest" makes your body hurt inside. Literally.
I know it sounds weird and it's hard to explain. But, it's a weirdly amazing feeling.

If you want to see her show, click HERE for tickets!

I met her boyfriend after the show and he told me, that like my cousin, he also went to college in Winston-Salem, at the School of the Arts, where he later asked if all the boys were treating me well down at Wake.
I congratulated him on a wonderful performance and that I really could appreciate their theater production because I had done theater my whole life and I know how hard it is to be an "honest" actor.

I will be seeing many more theater productions in the next couple of weeks because I have some very special guests coming to visit me in the big apple!!
Get excited!!

Becco and Cat Calling

Reunited and it feels so good!
Back with my babes and I couldn’t be happier!

Georgia, Michelle and I went out for our annual end of the school year celebration in NYC.
And it wouldn’t be tradition unless Michelle almost made us miss the train, AGAIN!

This year was the earliest we have ever done it, because we normally don’t finish school until the end of June. But colleges get out in May…
We went to one of our favorite restaurants- Becco in the theater district and ate WAYYYYY too much pizza and bread.
I was justifying it, however, because I was doing soul cycle at 8:30 am the next day with my sister…

I like to think that I follow after my dad and try to be a comedian….
The waiter at dinner asked us if we would like drinks, we declined and just opted for water because we are underage. So I made the joke, oh did you really think we were older? And the waiter got so defense and answered so aggressively, and said well I would have had to check ID’s anyway darling…. I was just trying to make a joke… So that was awkward. But it was fine. And I think he felt bad about his response because after that he was joking around with us and he gave us free desert.
And I think he even put a heart on the reciept… that is still to be determined however.

The food baby was real last night. And men on the street certainly didn’t seem to mind my food baby or Giorgia’s…
We walked to Becco and while on the way, we started to keep track of all the cat calls… Unfortunately, we lost track….. That’s how many there were…It’s disgusting.
Men are gross. Not all men, but the ones on the city streets are.
There was also a lot of commotion in the city last night because a man had lost control of his car in Times Square and it went up onto a cement barricade…
So Times Square was shut down and there was a lot of commotion.
After the slightly crazy night, I was glad to go home to Long Island, aka the bubble.

It was so nice to be reunited with my baby geese. I love them so much. And it just shows you how great friends they are, because after 4 months of not seeing them or talking too much, we were able to pick up right where we left off and act like the annoying best friends that we have always been. <3

Mom's Birthday 2017

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday!!!
So exciting!
It was perfect that she went to work yesterday because I was able to finish buying all of her presents.
Thank God my brother and dad have me to do all the dirty work because without me they would both be so LOST.
Like I bought my mom pjs yesterday at Lord and Taylor that my mom never said she really wanted but I knew it would be something cute for her for her birthday. My brother and dad would have never thought of something like that… just saying. Or what about the chocolates that I threw in with the rest of her presents.
And I had to do all the wrapping….
After my mom got home from work we waited for my dad and then he took us out to Cafe Continental, which is a very nice Italian restaurant close to my house.
We got all dressed up and the waiter and the owner of the restaurant thought we were celebrities.
No joke!
Well, you know, I am kind of a celebrity- Girl Scout cookie box model over here…
But the waiter was so funny and kept patting my brother on the shoulder. And asking what sport he played, like he was some kind of professional athlete…..And the owner kept coming over to talk to us and asking us how we were, like we knew them personally… which we don’t.
And they hugged us all goodbye after they brought around a round of drinks and cake for my mom and dad, because my dad’s birthday is on Sunday!
It was crazy and we felt like celebrities.
When we left the restaurant we all died of laughter because the restaurant literally thought my brother was some kind of famous athlete or something, idk….
My mom thought the owners thought we were some famous family because we were all dressed so nicely! Which is very possible.
But regardless it was just a very funny night.

Speaking of funny stories, I have a funny story about my very chic outfit from last night.
I never bought this shirt, nor was it gifted to me.
This shirt  has been in my closet for the past like 6 years after I took it at a "Clothing Swap party" my friends and I had in middle school.
I have only worn it once besides last night! And it was in Paris for dinner one night.
I wore the shirt with the big bow, white jeans, a denim jacket and wedges.
I remember this outfit very distinctly because this shirt is definitely a statement piece.
I remember being very self conscious to wear it but it is so chic, I really shouldn't have!
But fun fact- back in the day, especially in my earlier years of middle and high school I was very self conscious about how I dressed and didn't have a lot of confidence in what I wore.
I'm gonna be honest, this shirt requires a good amount of confidence.
I don't think anyone can just wear a shirt like this!
It is a shirt with a lot of personality and I think you definitely need a big personality of your own to wear this shirt.
I am so glad I wore this shirt last night and had the confidence to wear it!

Ava and Lucas' Communion 2017

And the family is all back together again!

My niece and nephew, Ava and Lucas had their first holy communions on Saturday and our family came from far and wide to celebrate!

For the first time, in what seems like forever, we were able to get all 5 of my siblings and I together in the same room and in the same photo!
So not only was it a celebration of the two cousins receiving their communion but also it was a bit of a family reunion.

It was the first time I saw a lot of my cousins and aunts and uncles since I had been away at college!
Good thing I got a facial, and my hair cut and nails done! lol
Saturday, was the first day I wore makeup since I have been home... Oops!
But my skin needed a break, and if I am just sitting at home doing nothing, it's not really necessary for me to wear pounds and pounds of makeup...
I even did my mom's makeup for the festivities!

It was really nice to see everyone and the party was wonderful.

After a very long church ceremony, we went over to this really good restaurant, Gatsby's Landing in Roslyn, NY for a celebration.
I remember my communion very well, and we did it in the backyard. Thank God my sister and brother didn't plan it for one of their backyards, because it POURED all day!
It was gross out!

The party was so fun!
If you saw on my insta story, @tallandpreppy, I posted some pictures of the delicious food and my gorgeous fam!

I love how if there is good lighting my phone takes really great photos, but I am really thinking about getting a good quality camera. I have a Canon powershot right now and I love the photos it takes, but it doesn't take the pictures as fast as I would like.
So if you have any camera recommendations let me know! Maybe, it will be my 19th birthday present to myself!!

I'm pulling a "Kate Middleton," as I like to say!
I have worn this dress many times to many different occasions.
I am not one to wear a pretty dress once and call it a day...
no no
If Kate Middleton can wear her fancy dresses more than once, so can I!
I wore this dress to my National Honor Society Brunch and my Theater Brunch one year.

Dress: ASOS light pink and blue floral pencil dress
Shoes: BCBG 4 inch nude platform pumps
Earrings: large faux pearls
